Mercy Eke Addresses Controversial Tweet, Apologizes to BBNaija’s Onyeka
Popular reality TV star Mercy Eke has responded to the backlash following a controversial tweet made from her official account.
The tweet, which referred to BBNaija housemate Onyeka as a “gold digger” and mocked the housemate, sparked outrage among fans.
In a follow-up post, Mercy Eke clarified that the tweet was not authored by her but by a handler responsible for managing her account while she celebrated her birthday.
Mercy expressed shock and disappointment at waking up to the drama, stating, “I can’t believe I’m waking up to this on my birthday.” She explained that the handler was meant to post birthday-related content, but instead, got involved in BBNaija drama without her knowledge.
Mercy, who has distanced herself from Big Brother Naija-related issues, emphasized that the opinion shared about Onyeka did not reflect her own feelings. She added that the only reason she refrained from tagging the handler responsible was to avoid bullying by fans.
“I apologize to Team Onyeka because this is so embarrassing coming from my account; it definitely does not represent me or how I feel,” she concluded.
