An emotional interview from Justin Bieber has resurfaced following the arrest of Sean “Diddy” Combs, where Bieber tearfully discussed his desire to protect Billie Eilish from the music industry’s darker side.
The interview, from 2020, took place while Bieber was promoting his album Changes, and Eilish was experiencing a rapid rise to stardom with her album When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go?
Bieber revealed that, at the time, he reached out to Eilish to offer guidance and support, hoping to shield her from the harsh realities he faced as a young star.
“I just want to protect her. I don’t want her to go through anything I went through. I don’t wish that upon anybody,” Bieber said, holding back tears.
The pop star opened up about his own struggles with fame during his youth, explaining how being thrust into the spotlight at such a young age took a toll on his mental health.
“It was bad… It was dark. Think about how young I was and so impressionable, and you have everybody telling me how awesome I am at all times,” he said, adding that he wanted to be a positive example for Eilish.
Reflecting on his past, Bieber shared that the constant praise and sudden abandonment by people in the industry left him feeling isolated and vulnerable.
“It was hard for me, being that young and being in the industry, not knowing where to turn and everyone telling me they loved me and then turning their back on you in a second,” he recalled. Bieber made it clear that he remains a support system for Eilish, saying,
“So if she ever needs me, I’m gonna be here for her… I’m just a call away.”
