Nigerian Influencer Efe Tommy Undergoes Successful Kidney Transplant, Launches Health Foundation
Efe Tommy, a prominent Nigerian lifestyle influencer, recently revealed that he has successfully undergone a kidney transplant after battling kidney failure for over a year.
In a heartfelt Instagram post, Tommy shared his journey, describing how he initially struggled to accept his diagnosis but leaned on his faith, family, and friends for support.
Tommy recalled receiving the life-changing news in February 2023, when doctors informed him that both his kidneys were failing. “On February 16, 2023, my life flashed before my eyes when I found out both my kidneys were failing,” he wrote. “It was a fact I instantly refused to accept.” Despite the initial shock, Tommy remained positive, continuing with his work and social commitments while keeping his health issues private.
He credited his sister, who he described as his “rock,” along with friends, for providing the emotional and practical support he needed throughout his difficult journey. One month ago, Tommy underwent a successful kidney transplant and has since expressed immense gratitude for what he calls a “new lease of life.”
“Today marks one month post-kidney transplant surgery, and I am doing very fine,” he said. “I am filled with gratitude, thanksgiving, and joy because God gave me a new lease of life.” In light of his experience, Tommy announced the launch of a foundation aimed at raising awareness about kidney health and supporting those affected by kidney disease.
His message of hope concluded with a call to action: “I hope this inspires someone out there to go check their kidney function today. I AM FREE!”
