Music mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs, 54, was arrested by federal agents in New York on Monday evening, according to reports by In Touch and TMZ. Homeland Security agents apprehended Diddy at a New York hotel, where authorities also searched his room. Following the arrest, Diddy was taken into custody and transferred to the FBI’s New York field office for processing.
The New York Times reported that a grand jury had indicted the disgraced entrepreneur, though the specific charges have not yet been publicly confirmed. However, sources close to the prosecution believe the charges could include racketeering and sex trafficking, allegations that have circulated amid growing scrutiny of the music icon’s personal life and business dealings.
Diddy’s attorney, Marc Agnifilo, responded to the arrest, issuing a statement expressing disappointment with what he characterized as an “unjust prosecution.” Agnifilo described Diddy as a “self-made entrepreneur, loving family man, and proven philanthropist” who has spent decades building a successful career. He urged the public to withhold judgment until all the facts are revealed, maintaining Diddy’s innocence and emphasizing his cooperation with the investigation.
“He is an imperfect person but is not criminal,” Agnifilo stated. “To his credit, Mr. Combs has been nothing but cooperative with this investigation, and he voluntarily relocated to New York last week in anticipation of these charges.”
The arrest follows a series of federal raids conducted in March on Diddy’s homes in Los Angeles and Miami. At the time, his legal team criticized the raids, calling them an “overuse of military-level force” and accusing authorities of mistreating Diddy’s family and staff. While no arrests were made during the raids, the incident further fueled speculation about ongoing investigations involving the music mogul.
Diddy has been embroiled in legal controversies for months, stemming in part from a lawsuit filed by his ex-girlfriend Cassie, who accused him of abuse during their relationship.
