Following the Edo State Governorship elections held on Saturday, renowned journalist and media personality, Dele Momodu, has voiced his concerns about the political maneuvers surrounding the event. In a statement made on his social media platforms, Momodu expressed his skepticism regarding the outcome of the elections and shared his observations on the prevailing political dynamics.
“Without any prejudice to whatever INEC announces today as the supposed results of the Edo Governorship election, please, permit me to make some quick observations, not in any particular order, and give you the outcome ahead of time,” Momodu began.
He criticized the assumption by some Nigerians that the All Progressives Congress (APC) would lose the election, stating, “I’m flabbergasted that some Nigerians still expect APC to lose this particular election. It is practically impossible, and I’m ready to place a modest bet on it.”
Momodu also hinted at a covert operation he referred to as “OGA WANTS IT,” which he claimed involved key actors from both the APC and the People’s Democratic Party (PDP). He expressed concern that Governor Godwin Obaseki might be unaware of the extent of the political scheming around him. “OBASEKI is surrounded by some wolves in sheep’s clothing, unfortunately. I will pardon ASUE IGHODALO if he’s somehow naive at this stage of his political career and adventure, not to understand the usual chicanery in Nigerian politics,” he added.
According to Momodu, the so-called “OGA” is desperate to secure victory at all costs, driven by a need for political survival. He noted that this desperation has led to a “temporary marriage of convenience” between factions within the APC and certain PDP members, particularly those serving their second terms. These individuals, he claimed, are strategizing to safeguard their political futures amidst the looming uncertainty.
“The permutation is that if for whatever reason OGA is not able to run, then the Mafia Don will have PDP in reserve, since APC has a preponderance of would-be competitors. That is all,” Momodu stated.
He urged the people of Edo State to remain calm and place their faith in God, hinting that the political tensions might escalate due to the inflated egos of opposition factions.
