Akwa Ibom State is mourning the loss of its First Lady, Patience Umo Eno, who passed away on Thursday after a courageous battle with illness.
Commissioner for Information Ini Ememobong announced the sad news in a statement released early Friday.
The statement read: “It is with profound sorrow that we announce the passing of Her Excellency, Pastor Mrs. Patience Umo Eno, wife of the Executive Governor of Akwa Ibom State, following an illness. She departed peacefully at a hospital on September 26, 2024, surrounded by her loving family.”
Governor Umo Eno expressed heartfelt appreciation to those who stood by the family during this challenging time, reassuring citizens that his commitment to serving the state remains unwavering.
“The family humbly submits to the will of the Almighty and kindly requests prayers and support from well-wishers,” the statement added. “We also ask for privacy as we mourn our beloved wife, mother, and grandmother. Further details will be provided in due course.”
“I appreciate all who have stood by the first family in this period. Despite this huge personal loss, my commitment to the service of our great state remains unwavering.”
