Davido criticizes INEC amidst Edo governorship election. Nigerian music star Davido has voiced his frustration with the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) over the ongoing governorship election in Edo State. In a series of posts on his social media platform, the singer criticized the electoral process, calling for immediate improvements.
“Bruh @inecnigeria fix up we can’t continue like this .. wtf,” Davido wrote on his X page, expressing his disappointment with the handling of the election.
His comments follow reports that police had arrested some supporters of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for allegedly engaging in vote buying at several polling units in the state.
Davido, known for his hit song “Stand Strong,” explained his personal connection to the Edo election, noting that his late mother hailed from the state. “My mom is from Edo for those wondering why I’m interested in the election… but we as Nigerians should be concerned sha… @inecnigeria shame on you I know how many times I had to come in here and rant before they got it right in Osun! It’s really bad. God help us,” he added.
The singer has previously used his platform to campaign for the PDP’s candidate, Asue Ighodalo, urging Edo residents to support Ighodalo by casting their votes.
Davido’s involvement in political matters is not new; he actively campaigned for his uncle, Ademola Adeleke, during the Osun State governorship election. His influence and outspokenness on electoral issues have made him a prominent voice in advocating for transparency and fairness in Nigeria’s democratic process.
