The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has apprehended a 41-year-old Canadian woman, Adrienne Munju, for attempting to smuggle a significant quantity of the illicit drug known as ‘Canadian Loud’ into Nigeria. The arrest took place at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA) in Ikeja, Lagos.
According to the NDLEA, Munju was intercepted during routine checks after her flight arrived in Lagos. Officials discovered the contraband hidden within her luggage. ‘Canadian Loud’ is a potent strain of marijuana, which is illegal in Nigeria.
The NDLEA emphasized that this arrest highlights its ongoing efforts to curb drug trafficking into the country, noting that the agency is intensifying its crackdown on international drug syndicates.
Spokesperson for the agency, Femi Babafemi, confirmed that Munju is currently in custody and will be prosecuted in accordance with Nigerian law.
