Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola defends Erling Haaland’s post-match outburst
Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has defended star striker Erling Haaland’s behavior following Sunday’s intense 2-2 draw with Arsenal.
Haaland was involved in heated exchanges with Arsenal players and staff, telling manager Mikel Arteta to “stay humble” and throwing the ball at defender Gabriel after John Stones’ equalizing goal.
Guardiola attributed Haaland’s actions to the emotional intensity of the match. “Emotions took over,” he said in a post-match press conference. “I’m certain Erling isn’t proud of his actions, but considering Arsenal’s aggressive approach, I understand his reaction.”
The draw kept Manchester City and Arsenal in close contention near the top of the Premier League table.
