The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Akwa Ibom State has suspended its local government election campaigns to honor the passing of Mrs. Patience Eno, the wife of Governor Umo Eno.
In a statement released on Friday, September 27, 2024, the party’s Publicity Secretary, Edwin Ebiese, expressed the party’s deep sorrow over the sudden loss, calling it a devastating blow to both the governor’s family and the entire state.
Ebiese emphasized that the party’s decision to suspend campaign activities was a gesture of respect for the late Mrs. Eno, noting that her death has left the state in mourning.
“It is with sadness and a deep sense of loss that we announce the suspension of our local government campaign.
“This decision follows the untimely demise of our governor’s wife. This loss is devastating, it has left the party and the entire state mourning.
The PDP spokesman also extended heartfelt condolences to Governor Eno and his family, praying for strength and comfort during this difficult time.
