Janet Jackson Opens Up About Motherhood and Raising Her Son Eissa

Janet Jackson is reflecting on the profound impact of motherhood, revealing why she stopped at one child despite originally wanting three. In a recent interview with The Guardian, the 58-year-old singer shared that becoming a mother to her son, Eissa Al Mana, has been the most significant experience of her life.

“The most important thing I’ve done, the biggest thing I’ve done, is become a mother, and it’s had a beautiful impact on my life,” Jackson said. She welcomed Eissa in 2017 with her then-husband, Wissam Al Mana. However, their marriage ended just three months after their son’s birth.

Jackson explained that she initially wanted three children but decided to focus solely on Eissa. “I thought, ‘I should stop there, that’s probably all I can handle.’ Because you have to give all of yourself. Your life completely changes. And I wouldn’t trade it for anything,” she shared.

Reflecting on the differences between her own childhood and her son’s, Janet Jackson noted that Eissa’s upbringing is “completely different, because I worked and he doesn’t.” She emphasized the importance of letting him enjoy his childhood, adding, “You’re an adult for the rest of your life, so I want him to enjoy each and every minute of being a child.”
